Abney Park - Steampunk Revolution
Your subculture shops at the mall
We build ours with blowtorch, needle, thread, and leather awl
With our antique clock parts we’ve taken all arts, fine art to fashion
And now we’re spreading worldwide to circle the globe with a furious passion
We’ve got a steampunk revolution
We’re tired of all your so-called evolution
We’ve darted back to 1886
Don’t ask us why; that’s how we get our kicks

OMG GUYS, IT’S COMPLETE
Artist/Composer: Neil Finn, Howard Shore
Song name: Song of the Lonely Mountain
Released: 11 December 2012Lyrics:
Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Leave us standing upon the height
What was before, we see once more
Is our kingdom, a distant light
Fiery mountain beneath the moon
The words aren’t spoken, we’ll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who find us will know the tune
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
All lies on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain bourne
We’ll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold
We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness a torch we hold
From long ago when lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
A fate unknown; the Arkenstone
What was stolen must be returned
We must away, and make the day
To find our song, for heart and soul
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the end of it yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
All lies on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain bourne
We’ll ride in the gathering storm
Till we get our long forgotten gold
Far away the Misty Mountains coldThis has become one of my favourite songs of all time!
this is beautiful honestly listen to the whole i dont care if you dont like the hobbit

Dark Moor - Maid of Orleans
I’d rather die than live chained in this cell
I hold to what I have already said
I won’t be free till the day of my death
The pyre is light. I see the end
I’m not a man searching the glory
I’m just the hand chosen to fight
It’s a long way to our freedom
I was betrayed, I’m burning at the stake

AFP turns the selfish, self-righteous bullshit she has used previously on fans onto a base of professional musicians (that she hopes are among her fans.) Any speculation on to how this is gonna turn out?
jesus FUCK this woman
(fun addendum: she recently raised >$1million via kickstarter! yet can’t pay musicians apparently???)
My partner told me about this earlier today.
Yeah, you guys: music is a professional trade. If another professional is asking you for shit like this, they’re scamming you. It’s a scam.
Musicians don’t need “exposure”. Amazingly talented musicians DIE in the streets every night from exposure. What young, emerging musicians need is seasoned professionals willing to actually INVEST - invest time AND MONEY - into supporting these artists’ careers.
I have ZERO respect for anyone in any kind of creative field who pulls this kind of shit.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST LOAD OF HORSESHIT I’VE EVER FUCKING HEARD.
According to Amanda Palmer, the privilege of playing on her Theater Is Evil tour is compensation enough for “professional-ish” horn and string players to join her onstage. The cabaret-punk superstar, who recently broke the high score on Kickstarter, put out a notice on her blog a few weeks ago asking her musically talented fans to volunteer to play dates on her worldwide tour. When it came to payment, she could only promise beer, high-fives, and good times.
really though… really.
um…wat.
Like every time AP comes up on my dash, I just get more and more reasons to hate her.
Giuseppe Tartini - The Devil’s Trill Sonata
The Story behind the Devil’s Trill Sonata by Tartini
“One night, in the year 1713 I dreamed I had made a pact with the devil for my soul. Everything went as I wished: my new servant anticipated my every desire. Among other things, I gave him my violin to see if he could play. How great was my astonishment on hearing a sonata so wonderful and so beautiful, played with such great art and intelligence, as I had never even conceived in my boldest flights of fantasy. I felt enraptured, transported, enchanted: my breath failed me, and - I awoke. I immediately grasped my violin in order to retain, in part at least, the impression of my dream. In vain! The music which I at this time composed is indeed the best that I ever wrote, and I still call it the “Devil’s Trill”, but the difference between it and that which so moved me is so great that I would have destroyed my instrument and have said farewell to music forever if it had been possible for me to live without the enjoyment it affords me.”

Life’s about film stars and less about mothers
It’s all about fast cars and cussing each other
But it doesn’t matter cause I’m packing plastic
And that’s what makes my life so fucking fantastic
And I am a weapon of massive consumption
And its not my fault it’s how I’m programmed to function
I’ll look at the sun and I’ll look in the mirror
I’m on the right track, yeah we’re on to a winner
