Seven years ago, Captain John Watson of the Canadian Forces Medical Service withdrew from society, seeking a simple, isolated life in the distant northern wilderness of Canada. Though he survives from one day to the next, he doesn’t truly live until someone from his dark past calls in a favor and turns his world upside-down with the introduction of Sherlock Holmes.
“The essentials of their relationship distilled through solitude.”

No one who enters old London ever comes out. They say that the beast devours them. When his sister disappears, John ventures into the dead zone beyond the wall, and finds a brilliant madman under a terrible curse…
OF COURSE IT’S A WIP. OF COUUUURSE.
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite Sherlock fanfics. It’s some weird Beauty in the Beast/Alice in Wonderland-esque AU fic and the WORLD-BUILDING AND THE INTENSITY AND THE ARHGRHGR.
Oh my god. I can’t wait until it’s finished. Every chapter is keeping me on my toes.
Miss Violet Hunter still had axel grease in her hair and smudged on her cheeks. John thought she was very pretty, in her own way. The freckles splattered across her nose seemed to complement her messy chestnut hair and her piercing brown eyes. She was dressed in her work clothes – a brass corset over a white puff-sleeved blouse and a set of tan breeches also smudged with grease and paint. Her leather boots were extremely shiny, and she wore a cropped leather jacket held together by brass frogs. A set of goggles nestled in her hair.
This fic is a WIP and a steampunk AU where everyone has assigned occupations. It’s rather fascinating how this author is combining Sherlock canon and the original Holmes canon to create this story - I’m so in love. Especially with their Violet Hunter, who will forever remain my favourite female character from the books. I have absolutely no idea if the author imagined her as dark skinned, but meh. Reader’s licence. In the fic she’s a Mechanic who specialises in creating replicas of living creatures. She’s become a main character in the fic which only increases my love~
As the weather grows colder, the first snow of each winter tests the limits of both Watson’s leg and Holmes’ heart.

Summary: In a world of sorcerers and magic, Sherlock is a Faerie-born and John, lacking any kind of magical talent, often seems a bit out of place. But he has a gift all his own…
Why read it: In a land of myth, and a time of magic, the destiny of a great sex life rests on the shoulders of a hot dude. His name… Sherlock.
Notes: This fic was found for two requests for “the fic where Sherlock is part faerie.”
Word count: 27,825
Summary: After seeing John undressed for the first time and making certain observations, Sherlock quickly becomes obsessed with a certain body part belonging to his flatmate.
Why read it: Alright, so John is conveniently naked, and Sherlock’s just like:
Then Mycroft’s all like: “Really Sherlock?”
But Sherlock’s still all:
And the whole time John’s just like:
Plus there’s porn and a kilt.

My name is John and I know who I am I am not mad, says the writing from nowhere. In his head Sherlock hears someone calm and gentle and reasonable, careful, attentive. He traces the writing with his own fingers, each and every one, wanting to take as much away as he can.
Why read it: The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie. The Cake Is A Lie. THE CAKE IS A LIE. THECAKEISALIE. THECAKEISALIETHECAKEISALIE
THE CAKE IS A LIE
Rating: uhhh PG-13? There’s language, violence and gore. It seems tame to me.
Genre: Case-fic, Bromance
Word Count: 19,454 (oh my god)
Written for this prompt: When Sherlock deems a case that a prospective client contacts him about beneath him, John (figuring that he’s seen Sherlock investigate enough cases to be able to do some amateur deducing himself) offers to take it on in his stead, hoping that it’ll help make him feel like he’s making a difference again. The client agrees. John investigates the case, and solves it.
So I wrote this whole thing in the past week and I don’t know how. I’m not a very talented writer, and my prose is weird, but I had lots of fun and finishing it makes me happy, even if I don’t have time to polish or revise it much. I would really love it if people read this and told me what they thought, just so I know that all my sweat and tears weren’t for nothing.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh I need more amazing reader’s tags on my blog
It wasn’t that Joan wasn’t attractive, anyone could see that she was attractive. Adorable, delectable. But she was always hiding under jumpers and strict military hair buns that looked disciplined enough to withstand hurricane winds on general principle.

Is there really any contest?
I don’t think there is.
Benedict and Martin FTW.
Um…why the “vs”?
When did this fandom become a competition? I just do not get it. Sorry.
someone could write a really amazing fic on them meeting and some rivalry could ensue (or does that exist already?)
I don’t know why this exists, but since someone mentioned a fanfic, I have to reblog and supply.
Happy reading! :D
