I tend to never read journal posts on the DevArt groups I belong to, so thanks for alerting me to this. Just left them a long-ass comment. I can’t understand why they would post that, just… FLAMES. FLAMES ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE.

I left one as well and OF COURSE the admin who wrote it ignored my comment and replied to all the ones who agreed. There are three pages of absolute vitriol about how JOHN WATSON CAN’T BE A FEMALE AND IT WILL ONLY CREATE ~SEXUAL TENSION~ BUT HOLMES DOESN’T LIKE WOMEN??? ANGRY FACE!!!!

Of course, but there are so many more adaptations where Holmes is paired with a woman and an OC at that. I’d rather have Holmes/Fem!Watson than Holmes/OFC or even Holmes/Irene. Yeah, it may be boring and I won’t like the pairing, but having the possibility is not inherently bad. Also, men and women can be just friends without romantic entanglements. IT CAN HAPPEN!

I don’t understand how most of the people saying this shit are young women themselves. I’m happy to have a female main character since that gives me someone to identify with. There are so many men on TV and yeah, they may be pretty to look at, but it’s frustrating. I don’t care if they don’t like it, there’s a shit tonne more adaptations with ~male leads~ that they can watch. But to go ‘I’M NOT GOING TO WATCH ELEMENTARY BECAUSE WATSON IS A FEMALE AND WATSON CAN’T BE FEMALE AND WHAT ABOUT THE GAY???’… fucking hate.

I just wish more people like you and me would comment and call the admin and other people out for being douchebags. xD;
